I was watching old episodes of ZOOM... in my dorm room... in college. And I remembered watching the same episodes with my best friend. ZOOM was amazing, the only show I have ever seen made by kids for kids and even though nothing I ever sent in was used it just made me feel like I could be a part of something bigger. It made me feel like I could be anything I wanted to be.

I guess from your age selection answers, I'm a pretty old gal (21... which I always thought was relatively fresh and hip). My friends and I just spent a decent portion of the evening reconnecting to our wonderful ZOOM memories of the past, and watched several hours of old episodes. So much enjoyment was had. So. Much.
So I just wanted to pass on the news that you've hooked several ZOOM fans for life. We're actually now planning out a college party with a ZOOM-theme. (We're all seniors, so we're going to call it "Senior year is zooming by.") Any advice on how to make this shindig fully in the ZOOM spirit? Any thoughts in general you'd like to share? Any sort of response back would be beyond stellar and so very appreciated!!

1999/2000s ZOOM
As you found out in the Previous Part, ZOOM, otherwise known as ReZOOM was cancelled in 1991. The Show was cancelled due to Low Ratings, and also a Lack of Funding AND because PBS wanted more shows.
So Producers felt the Show was dated, so they had one choice, it was to reimagine the show.
WGBH Boston wanted ZOOM to be a TV Hit while reinventing it. Once the ZOOM which was a PBS Version of Power Rangers had been played, it was so bad. Then Kate Taylor (producer for the 70s ZOOM) did another version of the show with Christopher Sarson. Then they compared, it wasn't bad!
They didn't want it to be the 70s style. You Know, The One with the Rugby Shirts and the Cute Kids. They needed hip.
They needed it to be more hip and modern.
To make modern audiences watch the resinated ZOOM, PBS would leave some of the Old Staples behind.
Gone with the Rugby Shirts and Songs.
The Producers needed Hip, Talented, Kids to keep the Show on the Air.
They needed Kids who sparkled on Camera
In 1999, WGBH was sure to have a hit with their Hip, New ZOOM
Whenever it's Bernadette Yao or Maddie Fretz now, It's Kids who can appeal to Kids who can appeal to grownups
Now all they would need was Talented Kids. Casting DIrector Nancy Doyle had the task of finding them.
They searched for the Most Talented Youngsters in Boston. The Show was sort of a Mickey Mouse Club of its era. They searched for the Most Talented Youngsters.
The Long Audience of Kids hoped and prayed and wished to be discovered
You had Child Actors from the Age of 8-17 auditioning.
From 30,000 Kids who auditioned, 7 would be selected to do a Final Round. They all did it on the Star Search Stage. For 12-20 Minutes, they did their Audition! They signed a 7 Year Contract
You know your're a Kid! Your Parents are watching you audition for ZOOM.
A Handful of Kids who auditioned would be selected to zoom. A Few ZOOMers moved to Boston
All Kids were facing the Same Thing, surrounded by Talented Kids.
The Kids hugged each other as they made the Show.
Working was refreshing.
When ZOOM premiered it was a Huge Success. Leading to Next Generations
But for the ZOOMers, there was a Big Change. Auditions for Season 2 were held. Caroline, Jessie, Kenny, Ray, and Claudio were the Names of the New Faces.
But the ZOOMers were about to be entertined by their Predecessors.
In 2000, ZOOM had a Reunion with ZOOMers from the First Season.
For the ZOOMers, it was a Humbling Occasion.
ZOOM grew into Popularity. The Typical Variety Show had Kenny and Caroline making a Cameo on Arthur. The Kids stalled through Routines, singing the Star Spangled Banner at Fenway Park wasn't Easy!
The Kids learned how to produce a Variety Show.

The Season 6 ZOOMers and Caroline Botelho |
They had School and Rehersal. They didn't have Breaks.
The Kids worked Hard on the Phonomenon. Their Fame was so cool!
The Kids coped with their Fame.
If you were on ZOOM, you'd have Hip, Cool, Kids as Your Best Friends.
The Kids learned how to be ZOOMers on Screen and off screen. ZOOM was a Global Icon. The Autograph Signing and Pictures were little things in life.
But the ZOOMers were about to face a Serious Event.
In 2003, ZOOM hosted a Reunion Show facing with 9/11.
A Few of the ZOOMers came back to talk about America.
The Group did a cover of Wiggles Song "Pass it on" during the Credits.
It was a Humbling Occasion.
It was a Miracle for Caroline Botelho to reunite with the Kids she met over the Years.
It was a Tribute to both America and 9/11.
ZOOM was growing popular. But there was a Change for ZOOM.
ZOOM was a Place to be Hip, but it was still for Kids.
It was time to search for New ZOOMers
Noreen Raja, Taylor Garron, Emily Marshall, Nick Henry, Kyle Larrow, Francesco Tena, Cara Harvey, and Maya Morales were the New ZOOMers.
It was a Big Change.
They were Little and they were Young. The Kids were like little and a bit young. Kortney Mike and Shing-Ying faced the New Kids on the Block.
The Kids really wanted to establish themselves.
A Few Kids sent in unaired Cafe ZOOMs. They were talented, too!
The Previous ZOOMers formed what the Little Kids formed.
The Show did a Episode filmed at Martha's Vineyard during the Start of Season 7.
Laura E. of Chesepake Virginia written the Episode. There were 3 Stuff sent in by Kids. 2 Science experiments and 1 Recipe. Both Science Experiments were sent in by The ZOOMers.
The ZOOMers appeared on Nickelodeon's Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.
The Older Kids were about to Move on, but look at the Younger Kids. The Show had auditions for Season 8. 30,000 Kids auditioned. Here are the ZOOMers chosen
- Kelly Chuck
- Rosario Corso
- Ashley Jones
- Caleb Logan
- Noreen Raja
- Nick Henry
- Emily Marshall
In May 6 2005, ZOOM was cancelled due to Low Ratings after 7 Seasons. A ZOOM Fan asked in a Zmail for pictures of the ZOOM Crew putting up the Set for the New Season but ZOOM came up to her saying the Show was cancelled. Then David Larrow (Kyle's Father) flooded the Set into a Indoor Pond. While the More than 1 Season ZOOMers were happy to leave, the Younger ZOOMers weren't ready to leave. Taylor Garron was the First to move on.
She was a Contestant on a Kids Reality Game Show created by Kate Taylor called "FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman" While Noreen Nick and Emily's Careers were unknown.
There was a ZOOM Reunion on YouTube. Former ZOOMers Pablo, Kenny, Eric, and Frances patricapated.
While Former ZOOMer Jared Nathan died a Year after the Show was cancelled due to a Car Accident. People in Boston would watch their Best Friends as Kids with "ZOOMFan1" who is Shing-Ying Sheih's Jolly Farm Revue Buddy Daniel Anderson. The ZOOMers were good!
